# Use FLORA in ChatGPT

Connect the FLORA app in ChatGPT, sign in with your FLORA account, and generate on your FLORA canvases from a ChatGPT conversation.

FLORA is listed in ChatGPT's directory, so you connect it with one click and a FLORA sign-in, with no URL to paste. Once connected, ChatGPT uses [FLORA MCP](https://flora.ai/mcp) to generate, run Techniques and work on your FLORA canvases from the conversation.

## Connect FLORA

1. Sign in to [ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com).
2. Open the [FLORA listing](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a8c516c7e308191a0091f1b9c98a621). You can also search for **FLORA** in ChatGPT's Plugins directory, which replaced the app directory in July 2026.
3. Click **Install plugin** if it's shown, then **Connect**.
4. FLORA's sign-in page opens. Sign in with the account you use at [app.flora.ai](https://app.flora.ai).
5. You return to ChatGPT with FLORA connected. On first use, FLORA confirms the sign-in, names your current workspace and shows its skills. It doesn't generate anything until you ask.

## Who can use it

OpenAI's help center says this about plans (checked October 2026):

* **Every plan** sees the Plugins directory, but whether you can install or use a plugin depends on your plan, workspace, role, region and what the plugin does ([Plugins in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001256-plugins-in-chatgpt)).
* **Free and Go** can find plugins in the directory, but plugin extensions aren't available on these plans ([Troubleshooting plugins and apps](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001497-troubleshooting-plugins-apps-in-chatgpt)). If **Connect** doesn't appear for you, this is the likely reason.
* **Business:** apps are on by default, and admins manage which ones members can use ([Plugins in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001256-plugins-in-chatgpt)).
* **Enterprise and Edu:** new workspaces start with a selected set of apps on. Admins manage the rest in the Admin console under **Plugins**, so ask yours to enable FLORA ([Plugins in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001256-plugins-in-chatgpt)).

OpenAI doesn't publish separate plugin limits for Plus and Pro. Connect FLORA from its listing.

On the FLORA side, API and MCP are included from Starter up, and a Free account can connect and generate on the $2.50 of usage every new workspace gets. Generations bill the FLORA workspace you choose, in US dollars. See [How FLORA pricing works](/plans-and-billing/pricing.md) and [Authentication](/mcp/authentication.md#who-can-connect).

## If FLORA is missing from the directory

Some plans and workspaces can add FLORA as a custom MCP server in developer mode instead. What that allows depends on your plan, per OpenAI's [Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-and-mcp-apps-in-chatgpt):

| ChatGPT plan | Custom MCP server in developer mode | What works with FLORA |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Business, Enterprise, Edu | Full MCP, including write actions, in beta. On Business, admins or owners turn on developer mode in workspace settings. On Enterprise and Edu, admins grant it to selected people. | Everything your FLORA role allows |
| Pro | Read and fetch only | Reading only: workspaces, projects, models, run history. Generating, uploading and editing canvases are write actions, so they don't work. |
| Plus | Not listed in OpenAI's article | Use the FLORA listing |
| Free, Go | Not listed in OpenAI's article | Not available: plugin extensions don't work on these plans |

To add it, following OpenAI's [custom MCP server guide](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/custom-mcp-server):

1. On ChatGPT on the web, go to **Plugins**, select **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**.
2. Name it `FLORA`. Under **Connection**, enter the server URL `https://agents.flora.ai/mcp`.
3. Set authentication to OAuth. FLORA registers ChatGPT automatically, so leave any client ID and secret empty.
4. Select **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**.
5. Install the new plugin, then sign in on FLORA's sign-in page.

Write actions ask for your confirmation by default, and your workspace's permissions and security settings (including Lockdown) still apply.

## Use FLORA in a chat

Type **@FLORA**, or pick FLORA from the **+** menu (or **Plugins**) in the message box, then describe the job. FLORA also adds two views you open yourself:

* **FLORA projects**, from ChatGPT's sidebar: browse your workspaces and projects.
* **Project tray**, from a conversation's tabs: keep one FLORA project open beside the chat, so what you select becomes context for the conversation.

Results show inline as a generation board while they run, with a link to open each one on its FLORA canvas.

## Check it works

Ask ChatGPT:

> List my FLORA workspaces. Don't generate anything.

<a href="https://chatgpt.com/?q=List%20my%20FLORA%20workspaces.%20Don%27t%20generate%20anything." class="button secondary">Open in ChatGPT</a>

ChatGPT calls `flora_list_workspaces` and lists your workspaces. Then try the [quickstart](/mcp/quickstart.md).

## Files you share in ChatGPT

Images and files you attach in ChatGPT are already hosted by OpenAI, so ChatGPT can pass their URLs straight to FLORA. For a file that isn't in the chat, ChatGPT can give you a FLORA upload link that works for 15 minutes. See [Upload your own images, video and files](/mcp/recipes/upload-files.md).

| No **Connect** button, or FLORA isn't in the directory | Plugins aren't available on your plan (Free and Go), in your region, or in your workspace | On Business, Enterprise or Edu, ask your workspace admin to enable FLORA. Otherwise see [If FLORA isn't in the directory for you](#if-flora-is-missing-from-the-directory). |

| ChatGPT asks you to confirm a FLORA action | ChatGPT can ask before an app creates or changes something | Read what it will do, then approve. Generations still need your OK on the cost first. |
| `paid_plan_required` (HTTP 403) | The FLORA workspace's plan doesn't include what you asked for, such as API access or another feature | Adding balance won't fix it. Pick a workspace whose plan includes it, or upgrade. See [How FLORA pricing works](/plans-and-billing/pricing.md). |
| `insufficient_credits` or a `BILLING_*` error | Not enough balance in the FLORA workspace, or a spending limit was hit | The agent stops and relays the message without retrying. Add balance in FLORA, or pick another workspace. See [Cost, balance and limits](/mcp/cost-and-limits.md). |
| Tools look out of date | ChatGPT cached an older tool list | Start a new conversation. See [Retired tools](/mcp/retired-tools.md). |

ChatGPT and Codex keep separate connections. Connecting FLORA in ChatGPT doesn't add it to Codex; see [Install in Codex](/mcp/install/codex.md).

## Disconnect

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings**, then **Plugins** (or **Apps**, on accounts that still show it).
2. Open **FLORA**.
3. Under **Connected accounts**, open the **⋯** menu and disconnect.

This signs ChatGPT out of FLORA. See [Authentication](/mcp/authentication.md#disconnect-and-revoke) for more.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flora.ai/mcp/install/chatgpt.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
